Building Code Commission (BCC) Permits

The Building Code Commission (BCC) is responsible for issuing permits for all State buildings and buildings located on State-owned or State-leased land. These permits ensure that construction activities meet safety, accessibility, and code compliance requirements.

 

Types of Permits Issued

Building Permits

  • Required for new construction, additions, renovations, structural alterations, and change of use. Ensures compliance with building codes and safety standards.

Demolition Permits

  • Required before the removal or partial removal of any structure. Helps ensure utility disconnects, environmental considerations, and safety measures are followed.

Electrical Permits

  • Ensures all electrical installations, upgrades, and repairs comply with State electrical codes to prevent hazards.

Mechanical Permits

  • Required for the installation or modification of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure proper performance, efficiency, and safety.

Modular Permits

  • Covers modular building units constructed off-site. Ensures factory-built components meet State building code requirements before installation.

Plumbing Permits

  • Ensures installations or alterations involving plumbing, gas piping, or related fixtures comply with State plumbing codes.

Solar Permits

  • Required for the installation of solar photovoltaic or solar thermal systems to ensure proper structural, electrical, and code compliance.

When is a Permit Required?

A permit for all State buildings and buildings located on State-owned or State-leased land is typically required for:
