State Of Rhode Island: Building Code Commission
Mission Statement
The Building Code Commission (BCC) is tasked with protecting public health, safety and welfare by establishing our state's minimum standards of construction.
Safe structures are achieved through a combination of code-based design & construction practices, and an inspection process that ensures compliance with the established standards.
Model building codes provide the first and best line of defense against careless construction and sub-par materials which can lead to catastrophic structural failures.
However, model building codes don't only ensure building safety, they also establish uniformity in the industry which helps keep costs down; cost savings which are passed on to the end consumer - RI property owners.
